WHAT TO BRING

There are several things to consider bringing to the Job Fair in order to help represent yourself to potential employers. 

YOUR PITCH

An elevator speech, or elevator pitch, is a quick and direct way to introduce yourself, your career objective, and how you can meet the requirements for the job. Because job fairs tend to be large events with many businesses, recruiters, and prospective employers, practicing your pitch can allow you to be fully prepared for what you will say when you sit down to speak with prospective employers. Practice how you will introduce yourself and make a lasting impression so you can make your pitch in under 60 seconds.

TIPS AND PREP

Take time to prepare for the job fair and learn awesome tips to be ready to impress potential employers. 

DRESS FOR SUCCESS

First impressions are important. Dress conservatively, in the clothes you'd wear on the job.

  • A manager should wear business suits

  • Office and retail workers should wear dress clothes

  • Trade people should wear work clothes

 

Make sure you look clean, neat, and well-groomed. Iron your clothes, polish or clean your shoes, clean and trim your fingernails, use a breath freshener, use minimal cologne or perfume, use conservative makeup, and minimal jewelry. Oh, and rub a little antiperspirant on your hands for a nice dry handshake. ​
